Not a government agency

This site is not operated by, affiliated with or endorsed by any state alcohol control board, any state liquor authority, any local licensing board, the federal government or any law firm. We do not issue licenses, process applications, run drawings or make eligibility decisions. Where a page links to a state authority, that authority is the official source; we are a private publisher summarizing what it says.

Rules change and vary

Liquor-licensing rules are set state by state, sometimes city by city or county by county. They change by legislative session. Local option can make a jurisdiction wet or dry. A quota or a control-state structure can rule out a class entirely. A page can be accurate on the date we verified it and change the next week. Every page shows the date we last read it against the source. Always confirm the current rules with your state and locality before you act on anything here.

No guarantee of outcomes

We work to keep every page accurate and cite a primary source for each load-bearing fact, but we do not guarantee that the information is complete, current or error-free. We do not guarantee any particular result either. Using this site does not guarantee that any license will be granted, that any application will be approved or that any timeline will hold. You are responsible for your own decisions.

Market-reported figures

Where we describe the private resale price of a license in a quota state, those figures are market-reported between private parties and are not official state fees. They illustrate the scale of a secondary market; they are not quotes and they are not a valuation of any license.
